In the 1841 census John was stated to be a Stonemason and was living in Higher Woodhill, Bury
If these date are correct then John was very young when he had his first child Mary. He would have only been 14 or 15!!!
Richmal is that bit older so this is all quite possible
John married Richmal SMITH Jun Q 1840 in Manchester, Lancs. (vol 20 p 519). (Richmal SMITH was born in 1814 in Elton, Lancs and was christened in Ainsworth, Lancs.)
